Update prepared by the SPI-M-O subgroup on regional variation on spatial patterns in COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations. This paper was available for participants to read at SAGE 91 on 3 June 2021, but not considered or discussed in the meeting.

The paper is the assessment of the evidence at the time of writing As new evidence or data emerges, SAGE updates its advice accordingly.

It includes work produced by Lancaster University, the University of Warwick, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Imperial College London.

This paper contains estimates of the reproduction number (R) from individual modelling groups. These will differ to published consensus estimates of the R value from SAGE.

See the latest R value and growth rates, and further background.

This paper should be read in the context of the SPI-M-O: Consensus statement on COVID-19 from SAGE 91.

These documents are released as pre-print publications that have provided the government with rapid evidence during an emergency. These documents have not been peer-reviewed and there is no restriction on authors submitting and publishing this evidence in peer-reviewed journals.
