Details

These standard rules allow you to operate a metal recycling site at a specified location.

These rules permit the following activities for ferrous metals or alloys and non-ferrous metals for recovery:

  • sorting
  • separation
  • grading
  • shearing
  • baling
  • compacting
  • granulating of cables
  • cutting (using hand held equipment only)

The total quantity of waste that can be accepted at a site under these rules must be less than 25,000 tonnes a year.

The rules will not permit the burning of any waste, either in the open, inside buildings or in any form of incinerator.
