Compliance with the steel procurement guidance
The information from government departments and their arm’s-length bodies covers:
- how much they have procured over the 2020 to 2021 financial year
- how they have applied the steel public procurement guidance (PPN 11/16)
Departments have confirmed that, where applicable, they have fully complied with the guidance when procuring steel for their major projects.
Steel procurement pipeline 2022
The steel pipeline shows how the government plans to use 8.4 million tonnes of steel over the next decade on infrastructure projects such as:
- High Speed 2 (HS2)
- the maintenance and upgrading of the UK’s motorway network
- the construction of schools and hospitals
