Details

“Trust and Safety” refers to efforts by digital services to handle harmful content and behaviour online.

Safety tech companies and leaders aim to use technology to help keep users safe online. Despite challenges, Trust and Safety roles are increasing in number tech firms, with more focus on user experience and early involvement in product development.

More investment in technology will support this growth while creating opportunities for the UK safety tech sector. Indeed, 88% of sampled organisations intend to invest in trust and safety technology in the next 12 months. However, there are challenges, including a lack of access to data and low awareness of UK safety tech businesses, with only 27% of interviewees having a good awareness of the UK safety tech sector and 83% of large platforms still preferring to build bespoke tools internally.
