A template letter for healthcare professionals to contact expectant mothers about their unusual haemoglobin test results, and invite the father for a sickle cell and thalassaemia blood test.

Send this letter:

• when the mother carries a gene for unusual haemoglobin

• with the tests for dads leaflet

The document also sets out why screening the father is important for the welfare of the baby.
