Study looking at the feasibility of completing a UK road trial of truck platooning technology.

Platooning truck technology is used to control the position of following vehicles, permitting the group to operate in closer proximity.

The research reviewed how the technology might benefit:

  • UK business
  • the transport network
  • road safety
  • the environment

along with the issues faced by:

  • legislators
  • haulage companies
  • drivers of the vehicles in the platoon
  • trunk road network operators
  • other road users

The study was commissioned by Department for Transport.
