UK semiconductor stakeholder forum delegation to the RoK: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will process your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

This notice relates to the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) organised delegation to the Republic of Korea (RoK) to build relationships with Korean stakeholders and identify collaborative research and innovation (R&I) partners.

The Privacy Notice covers the collection and processing for the application process that selects the UK organisations that will join the delegation. We will use your data to update you on the outcome of the application process, to monitor the progress and operational delivery of the delegation to RoK, and for the evaluation of the visit to understand its impact and to inform future government policy.

Your data

We may process the following personal data:

  • name
  • email
  • telephone number
  • address

Purpose

The purpose(s) for which we are processing your personal data is:

  • To keep you updated on the outcome of the competitive application process.
  • To monitor the progress and operational delivery of the delegation to the RoK.
  • For the evaluation of the visit to understand its impact and to inform future government policy.

The legal basis for processing your personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR is:

(1) (e)Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller, in this case to keep you informed of the progress of the delegation to RoK.

Recipients

Your personal data will be shared by us with other Government Departments or public authorities where necessary to support the application process and delivery of the Delegation to RoK.

As part of our IT infrastructure, your personal data will be stored on systems provided by our data processors - Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. This does not mean we actively share your personal data with these entities; rather, they are technical service providers who host infrastructure supporting our IT systems.

Retention

Your personal data will be kept by us for a period of 6 months following your application to ensure that administrative obligations are met, and you can be kept informed of scheme progress.

International Transfers

Your personal data will be processed in the UK, EEA and in RoK. It will be shared with the Government of the Republic of Korea to monitor the progress and operational delivery of the project. It will be shared subject to the equivalent legal protection through an Adequacy Decision.

Due to the departments IT Infrastructure, your personal data may be processed at data centres outside of the UK but will remain within the European Economic Area (EEA). Your data will receive the same level of protection in the EEA as it does in the UK, through the safeguard of Adequacy Decisions.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested), request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes
  • object to the processing of your personal data
