The local authority insight survey gathers feedback from local authority benefit managers on topics of interest to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Wave 33 of the survey examined:
- local authority preparations for Universal Credit managed migration – under this process, from 2019, HB cases managed by local authorities will move onto Universal Credit, which is managed by DWP
- the effects of reducing the HB backdating period from 6 months to one month – this change was introduced in April 2016 to bring working age HB processes in line with Universal Credit processes
