Use of telegraph poles: letter from DSIT Minister to telecom operators

The Minister for Data and Digital Infrastructure wrote to telecom operators asking them to consider alternatives to the use of telegraph poles as they roll out faster and more reliable broadband across the country.

Details

In this letter to fixed-line telecommunications operators, the Minister for Data and Digital Infrastructure, Julia Lopez MP has:

  • highlighted the government’s concerns with the inappropriate and unnecessary use of telegraph poles
  • asked companies to do ‘everything possible’ to share existing telegraph poles before deciding to build new ones
  • set out steps the government will take to address public concerns.
