This Policy Framework provides end-to-end instruction and guidance on the procurement, installation and use of X-ray body scanners in prisons, where prisoners are believed to be engaged in concealing contraband internally. The mandatory requirements in this document set out the minimum required for a prison to be compliant with legislation and HMPPS’s Requirements for Practice for Prisons. It contains all information needed to enable prisons to operate a legal and effective regime of X-Ray body scanning.
This Policy Framework relates to Adult Male Prisoners only (all prisoners over 18).
