Details

The primary aim of this study was to evaluate whether the ventilation provisions recommended in the 2010 edition of Approved Document F (ADF) of the building regulations provide satisfactory indoor air quality in new homes.

A key secondary aim was to establish the extent to which installed ventilation systems comply with the minimum ventilation provisions recommended in ADF. The results of the study indicated poor indoor air quality in a number of the monitored homes. Failure to meet indoor air quality indicators, in all cases, corresponded with failure to meet the ADF ventilation recommendations.
