You must only use this tool as a guide. Before you ship waste always check the controls with the:

  • transit and destination countries or their government departments
  • customs inspectorates or official waste regulatory bodies

  1. Updated the coding of this tool to reflect changes to the Basel Convention. 2 new waste codes have been added related to the labelling and later movement of WEEE related waste products. And to reflect that older codes will no longer be usable.

  3. The WECT has been updated to reflect the controls set out in SI 785/2021 The International Waste Shipments (Amendment of Regulation (EC) No 1013/2006 and 1418/2007) Regulations 2021.
