Total landings by UK vessels decreased in January 2022 compared to 2021, down 19 per cent at 93 thousand tonnes. The value of landings in January 2022 (£122.8 million) were also down compared 2021 by 6 per cent.

Landings by Scottish vessels in January 2022 are down 20 per cent (72 thousand tonnes) compared to landings by English vessels, which are up 7 per cent (13 thousand tonnes), when compared to January 2021. This corresponds with the number of trips by Scottish vessels for the same period, down 27 per cent and for English vessels, up 12 per cent.

Pelagic landings by UK (mainly Scottish) vessels in January 2022 are down 23 per cent (75 thousand tonnes) when compared to January 2021, with demersal activity similar to 2021 at 9,700 tonnes.
