Details
The reports include detailed information on staffing numbers at national and local probation trust levels, including periodic comparisons and trends.
Since the publication of the quarter 2, 2012 to 2013 report, there has been further work within the probation trusts to ensure staff are identified within correct categories; this work resulted in significant changes to the classifications of staff in the subsequent report for quarter 2, 2012 to 2013. While overall staffing numbers are representative, the breakdowns within the categories before the 2012 to 2013 quarter 3 report should be treated with caution.
The 35 probation trusts ceased to provide probation services as of midnight on 31 May 2014. As a result of the change to the structure of the Probation Service, the National Probation Service (NPS) and the Community Rehabilitation Companies (CRCs) commenced operations on 1st June 2014. The ‘Probation Service workforce information reports’ have therefore now ceased, following the quarter 4, 2013 to 2014 report.
Information on the workforce of the CRCs will be reported within the new quarterly ‘Community Rehabilitation Company workforce information staff in post’ summary reports. NPS staff now form part of the NOMS workforce and will therefore be included within the existing quarterly ‘National Offender Management Service Workforce statistics bulletin’ publication. The first reports published on this basis will relate to quarter 1, 2014/15.
