In 2013:

  • the total road length in Great Britain in 2013 was estimated to be 245.7 thousand miles, an increase of 1.9 thousand miles (0.8%) over ten years.
  • minor roads made up 87.3% of total road length, with major roads (motorways and ‘A’ roads) making up 12.7%.
