The development of regional CPIH: assessment of small area estimation for regional expenditure weights
In November 2017, Southampton University, supported by the Office for National Statistics published a feasibility study into producing Consumer Price Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) consistent inflation rates for UK regions. This second report follows up on a number of recommendations made in the initial feasibility report with a focus on improving expenditure estimates at a regional level and how this may lead to more stable regional CPIH estimates.
