The British Embassy with the Embassies of Poland, Germany and France and the Asan Institute for Policy Studies will hold a conference on Wednesday, June 17 titled “Post-WWII Reconciliation and Cooperation: Lessons for East Asia.”
Speaking ahead of the event, UK Ambassador Charles Hay said:
2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and Asia. While the process of European post-WWII reconciliation is regarded as a success overall, challenges remain. This is a good opportunity to share our diverse experiences of reconciliation in Europe and to discuss what we can learn from the past to help us build a stable and peaceful future.
This event will explore questions, challenges and successful strategies of cooperation between European states and societies, including under the framework of the European Union. Drawing from the European experience, this event will explore how such lessons can be applied to the East Asia region.
