UK Science and Innovation Network in Finland
Science and innovation are at the heart of government strategy for promoting prosperity and growth. Research and knowledge is increasingly developed and transferred through international collaboration which provides opportunities to work with the best in the world, exchange students and researchers, and gain access to large scale international facilities; leading to mutual benefits for the UK and Finland.

Responsibilities
To promote international collaboration the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) jointly fund the UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN), based in over 40 countries and territories around the world.
SIN Finland exists to facilitate policy exchange between the UK and Finland, and to stimulate collaborative partnerships between the two countries – particularly focussing on Horizon 2020 matchmaking.
Priorities
In addition to supporting policy exchange, proactive SIN Finland work focuses on four strategic areas:
- life science
- oceans
- low carbon technologies
- Arctic
In support of the UK Science and Innovation strategy SIN Finland is part of the SIN Nordic team and shares these four priorities across the region.

We aim to proactively seek out UK-Finnish collaboration in our priority areas of interest, and to reactively assess any potential projects that are suggested to us.
