Appeal against decisions on UK protected geographical food and drink names
How to appeal against a decision to register, change or cancel a UK geographical indication (GI) scheme product.
Who can appeal
You can make an appeal if you’re affected by, or have a legitimate interest in, a decision to:
- register or not register a GI product
- amend or not amend a GI product specification
- cancel or not cancel the registration of a GI product
For cancellations, you must be able to show you rely on the product name for your business.

How to appeal
You have 28 days to appeal from the date a decision is published.
