Applying for quota to import or produce ozone-depleting substances
How and when you can apply for quota to sell ozone-depleting substances (ODS) to import or produce in Great Britain.
You must get quota to sell ozone-depleting substances (ODS) that you import or produce in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).
How to apply for ODS quota
If you want to work with ODS or equipment containing ODS you must first register for an ozone-depleting substances (ODS) account.
When you have registered, you must then apply for ozone-depleting substances (ODS) quota.
You can only apply for ODS quota for:
- laboratory use
- analytical use
- feedstock or to be used as a process agent
- critical uses of halons
You must check that anyone you’re selling ODS to in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) for laboratory or analytical use has a valid laboratory ODS (LabODS) number.
When to apply for ODS quota
You can only apply during the application window, which runs each year from 30 June to 31 August.
