Reducing Parental Conflict planning tool

The Reducing Parental Conflict self-assessment planning tool was designed to help local areas assess the progress of their services in relation to Reducing Parental Conflict. The tool:

  • identifies strengths and areas for development
  • monitors progress over time
  • measures how advanced local areas are in creating a system to reduce the impact of parental conflict on children
  • guides planning activities to make the local system more effective

Intervention testing in 31 local authority areas

The Reducing Parental Conflict programme built on evidence from the Local Family Offer to test approaches for reducing parental conflict in 31 local authorities.

The Contract Package Area trial aimed to improve the UK evidence base around parental conflict by testing 8 interventions for parents. Find more information about the evaluations on the impact of the Reducing Parental Conflict programme.

Four groups of local authorities were involved, led by:

  • Westminster – Building Relationships for Stronger Families
  • Hertfordshire – Parenting Together
  • Gateshead – Relationships Matter
  • Dorset – Happy Families Happy Futures

Local Authority Grant Funding

DWP provides grant funding to Local Authorities in England who apply to train their workforce, deliver support to parents, and undertake the co-ordination and evaluation of that work. Read more about DWP funded activity on Reducing Parental Conflict
