The Special Development Order was laid in Parliament on 21 March 2024 and came into force on 11 April 2024.

An Explanatory Memorandum accompanies the Special Development Order. This provides an explanation of the effect of the legislation and why it is necessary.

The Special Development Order grants temporary planning permission for development at the former RAF Scampton, near Lincoln, Lincolnshire LN1 2ST, relating to the provision of accommodation and other forms of support to single adult male asylum-seekers and failed asylum-seekers.
