CAPI14050 - Control procedures on the importation of fresh garlic: general

Commission Regulation 341/2007 allows for the importation of fresh garlic (0703 2000) at a reduced rate of duty under quota from third countries and imposes additional controls on all other fresh garlic importations.

The quotas are allocated to individual countries detailed in Annex I to the regulation.

Imports under the quotas are exempt from specific duty.

Fresh garlic carries with it a high risk of misdescription of origin and misclassification to dried or frozen garlic to avoid quota restrictions and other controls.
