ECSH112500 - Contact with customers: central intervention team (CIT) mailbox

The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations Central Intervention Team (MLR CIT) mailbox is the main method of communication from businesses to Economic Crime-Supervision (EC-S), outside of communications directly with a caseworker.

The email address is signposted to on most EC-S pages on GOV.UK as a contact point for businesses, other departments and HMRC business units.

Once a business or other stakeholder sends an email to the MLR CIT mailbox, it receives an automated response, explaining the 15 working day service level agreement (SLA) for a reply, responses to frequently asked questions and some guidance.

The mailbox is managed by authorisations, who usually work through enquiries received in date order, but they prioritise queries involving annual refresh and passwords to avoid any issues with auto-expiry.

The MLR CIT Mailbox email address is: MLRCIT@hmrc.gov.uk.
