Customs control of exports at Ro-Ro stations is not always based on load lists/inventory data. Drivers usually carry a comprehensive set of export documents and where required get clearance of goods and CT documents authentication at the shipping station before loading on to ferries. Loading information is often little more than a booking for the vehicle (or container) on the ferry. A copy of the vehicle manifest is use to provide the necessary goods information. Control by Customs, and the commercial operator, is exercised by means of the documents carried by the driver.
