In the event of a major oil or chemical spillage at sea, supplies of various types of dispersants and pollution control equipment may have to be exported at very short notice under the control of the transport section of Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
It has been agreed with the DEFRA that, whenever possible in such circumstances, documentation will be presented in the normal way. Make special efforts to ensure that customs procedures are completed in the shortest possible time. Export declarations may be accepted out of hours.
If supplies and equipment are required so urgently that the DEFRA requests movement in advance of documentation, allow the request.
