NMWM02045 - Roles and responsibilities: Acas helpline
The Acas Helpline is a confidential helpline run on behalf of the Department for Business and Trade (NMWM02020) which provides help and advice on employment matters, including National Minimum Wage, to employers and workers.
Acas is an independent organisation who promote good employment relations (NMWM02080).
The helpline provides a “one-stop shop” allowing workers and employers to obtain information and advice in confidence about:
- National Minimum Wage
- Employment Agency Standards
- Gangmaster Licensing
- Working Time Regulations
It also enables workers (and others) to report abuses, including multiple issue breaches. The Helpline also issues leaflets on request.
National Minimum Wage complaints and the more complex enquiries received by the Helpline are passed to HM Revenue and Custom’s National Minimum Wage team (NMWM02040).
The Helpline is open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. It is equipped to support multi-language calls. Calls may be monitored to improve the quality of the service. The telephone number is 0300 123 1100.
