TSI008500 - Requirements of Temporary Storage: Goods available for examination and/or sampling

Customs authorities have the power under s159 CEMA 1979 to ask that goods are made available for examination and or sampling. The Temporary Storage Facility operator will be required under the terms of their authorisation and CEMA 159(4) to provide facilities (e.g weighing machinery) and assistance to the GB Customs authorities as required.

Inspections generated via CHIEF or CDS will be notified via the inventory system to the Temporary Storage Facility operator, the inspecting GB Customs authority should make arrangements with the Temporary Storage Facility operator. Some inspections may be carried out without prior notification on the inventory system, depending on the nature of the goods.
