TTTC2200 - What must be included on tobacco product packaging
So that products can be scanned at each point in the supply chain, a unit pack UID, obtained from the UK ID Issuer, must be placed on every unit packet. This must be verified by an anti-tampering device at the point of application.
The UK UID can be a physical code, or a digital code if it’s necessary to pair the UK code with another country’s UID printed on the packet.
Aggregate UIDs can be placed on anything that holds more than one unit packet. These need to be linked to the unit packets that it contains.
UIDs must be made up of a 2D data matrix along with a human-readable code of letters and numbers
