Joint Fraud Taskforce
Information about the Joint Fraud Taskforce (JFT), including membership, meeting minutes and the sector-based charters to combat fraud.
The Joint Fraud Taskforce (JFT) is a partnership between the private sector, government and law enforcement to tackle fraud collectively and to focus on issues that have been considered too difficult for a single organisation to manage alone.
It will drive public-private action through the oversight and implementation of the private sector elements in the Fraud Strategy and assure progress against voluntary sector agreements with industry, the fraud sector charters.
The JFT relaunched on 21 October 2021, following a review of its role, structure and objectives.
Governance and membership
The JFT is chaired by Lord Hanson who is the minister responsible for fraud. The JFT and its working groups comprise of senior representatives from industry, the third sector, law enforcement and government.
The Board and Officials Working Group consist of representatives from the JFT partner organisations.
New Fraud Strategy development
Fraud is a growing global problem and presents a significant threat to the UK, impacting our economic growth and devastating victims. Fighting fraud must be a priority for us all.
Development of the new Fraud Strategy has begun, and we are working with law enforcement, industry, civil society and academia to identify how to better protect the public and businesses from this appalling crime.
If you have any insights and ideas, send them to fraud.strategy@homeoffice.gov.uk.
We welcome all views but would be grateful for specific consideration around the following:
Obstacles and limitations
- what barriers do you currently face when tackling fraud?
- what gaps are fraudsters exploiting?
Opportunities and commitments
- how can government provide better support?
- what opportunities can be unlocked through legislation and other means?
