Sentinel Surveillance of Blood Borne Virus (SSBBV) testing

Information, data, guidance about the SBBV testing for hepatitis and HIV across all regions of England.

The Sentinel Surveillance of Blood Borne Virus (SSBBV) testing study began in 2002, with the aim of gathering information on testing for hepatitis C within sentinel laboratory services to inform local and national healthcare planning and help reduce incidence and prevalence.

It has since been expanded to cover all regions and to include hepatitis B and A. Since 2010 hepatitis D and E have been included and in 2011 HIV and human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 testing were added.
