We will revise and publish the standard rules permits as set out in our response.

Detail of feedback received

We had 45 responses to the consultation:

  • 15 from site operators (one response represented multiple operators)
  • 9 from trade associations
  • 8 from water companies
  • 2 from consultants
  • 10 from local authorities, including the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning & Transport and the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee
  • 1 from a government body

There were no comments from members of the public.

Summary

We’re seeking views on standard rules sets for biowaste treatment. This includes anaerobic digestion, composting and sewage sludge treatment.

Consultation description

We propose to:

  • withdraw some rules sets
  • merge the existing small scale composting site to one rules set
  • revise existing rules sets, including to reduce the number by transposing like for like activity
