PM meeting with President Karzai and Prime Minister Sharif
David Cameron welcomed President Karzai of Afghanistan and Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan to Downing Street for trilateral discussions.
Following the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson said:
This was the first meeting of the 3 countries since Prime Minister Sharif took office. The meeting took place following the World Islamic Economic Forum which the Prime Minister praised as an excellent opportunity for the UK to broaden and deepen our relationship with trading partners across the Islamic world.
In the meeting this afternoon, the 3 leaders continued their dialogue about Afghanistan and Pakistan’s shared interest in advancing regional peace, stability and prosperity. They discussed economic co-operation and the Afghan-led peace process, to which they all reaffirmed their continuing commitment.
