BIS tax arrangements for off-payroll appointees, August 2012 to March 2013

Following the ‘Review of the tax arrangements of public sector appointees’ published on 23 May 2012, government departments were required to implement the recommendations of the review within 3 months (from 23 August 2012).
BIS has implemented the recommendations of the review and sought the relevant tax assurances from all off-payroll appointees. For transparency purposes the data shows details on:
- the number of off-payroll engagements for those earning more than £220 per day for longer than 6 months since 23 August 2012 to 31 March 2013
- the number of these for whom assurance as to their tax obligations has been sought
- the number who have successfully provided assurance
- action taken against those who have not
