Buying green heating products (like solar panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers) or insulation for your home can be complicated. We have produced this guide to help you with each stage of the process, and to understand your key rights and protections under consumer law.
This guide covers the following key stages of the consumer journey:
- before you buy
- when you’ve decided to buy
- installation of your product(s)
- post-installation
- what to do if something goes wrong
Throughout the guide we have signposted to relevant links and sources of information and advice at each stage. The guide also sets out a summary of your key consumer rights, as reflected in consumer protection law. We have also outlined some specific considerations which are relevant to specific products toward the end of the guide.
This guide has been produced as part of the CMA’s work looking into consumer protection in green heating and insulation sector. More information about this work can be found on our Consumer protection in green heating and insulation sector case page.
