In 2022, the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI) conducted public engagement and research into public expectations for AI governance. This included expectations for transparency, fairness and accountability across a range of use cases.

Focus group research was supported by nationally representative polling of 4,120 adults from across Britain.

The research has helped to inform the development of the AI regulation white paper, putting public expectations at the heart of this work.
