Details

The Equality Act 2010 contains a new integrated public sector Equality Duty, which came into force on 5 April 2011. It requires public bodies to have due regard to eliminating unlawful discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not, with the aim of making society fairer.

The information published here is used by the department to inform our decision making, in compliance with the general Equality Duty. It includes research undertaken by the department and external bodies.
