This report:
- presents analysis of saturation effects in LGV use
- explores the potential use of Trafficmaster data for forecasting LGVs
- outlines 2 specific hypotheses for the growth in LGVs which are related to LGV ownership and usage
The first hypothesis for the rapid growth in LGV ownership has been that some industry restructuring has taken place in non-distribution industries such as construction and utilities. An alternative hypothesis is that larger firms have adopted LGVs as part of the logistics chain (switching from heavy goods vehicles to LGVs) or as a result of growth in new services best delivered by LGVs.
