Details

This prison service order (PSO) contains guidance and best practice to ensure that prison buildings are maintained to a safe and decent standard for staff and prisoners who live and work in them. Prison buildings must meet all legal standards and be secure, effective and fit for purpose.

It covers:

  • the systems and processes that each prison much have in place, including a service delivery agreement and a computer aided facility management system
  • the role of the property services group
  • general and planned maintenance and testing of equipment
  • repairs, health and safety and security
  • estate management
  • energy management

This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 31 March 2005.
