Details

This prison service order (PSO) contains guidelines for prisons when considering whether to produce a prisoner at court for a civil proceeding.

It covers:

  • the types of civil proceedings that a prisoner may be requested to attend
  • legal considerations, including a prisoner’s rights under the Human Rights Act 1998
  • considerations relating to the interests of justice
  • security and escorting of the prisoner to court
  • prisoner costs and charges for producing them at court

This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 12 February 2002.
