Other animal by-products: model health certificates

Competent authorities of exporting countries should use the relevant model health certificate as a template to create a version exporters can apply for to export other animal by-products to Great Britain, the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

Other animal by-products exported to Great Britain must be accompanied by the relevant health certificate. Exporters should read the guide on how to complete a health certificate.

Certificate GBHC580

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for animal by-products to be used for purposes outside the feed chain or for trade samples (ABPO).

Certificate GBHC581

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for processed animal protein, other than those derived from farmed insects, not intended for human consumption, including mixtures and products other than pet food containing such protein (PAP).

Certificate GBHC582

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for processed animal protein derived from farmed insects not intended for human consumption including mixtures and products other than pet food containing such protein (PIP).

Certificate GBHC583

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for milk, milk-based products and milk-derived products not for human consumption (M-MP).

Certificate GBHC584

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for hydrolysed protein, dicalcium phosphate and tricalcium phosphate not intended for human consumption to be used as feed material or for uses outside the feed chain (HDT).

Certificate GBHC585

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for apiculture by-products intended exclusively for use in apiculture (API).

Certificate GBHC586

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Declaration by the importer of untreated wool and hair referred to in Article 25(2)(e) of 142/2011 (UWH).

Certificate GBHC587

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for colostrum and colostrum products from bovine animals not for human consumption (BOV-C).

Certificate GBHC588

Must be used from 30 April 2024 by all countries.

Model health certificate for egg products not intended for human consumption that could be used as feed (EP-A).

Certificate GBHC144X

Non-EU countries must use certificate GBHC144X from 1 January 2021.

Declaration for the import of intermediate products to be used for the manufacture of medicinal products, veterinary medicinal products, medical devices for medical and veterinary purposes, active implantable medical devices, in vitro diagnostics medical devices for medical and veterinary purposes, laboratory reagents and cosmetic products (INT).

Certificate GBHC205

Use this certificate from 21 June 2021.

Model health certificate for milk and milk products not for human consumption from New Zealand.

Certificate GBHC206

Use this certificate from 21 June 2021.

Model health certificate for non-food animal products with full equivalence for transit / storage from New Zealand.

   All old versions of certificates have been removed.

2. 31 August 2023

   We have updated certificates GBHC580, GBHX581, GBHC583, GBHC584, GBHC586, GBHC587 and GBHC588. We have also updated the 'use from' date for certificates GBHC580, GBHC581, GBHC582, GBHC583, GBHC584, GBHC585, GBHC586, GBHC587 and GBHC588. Use from date for EU changed to 31 January 2024. Use from date for non-EU countries changed to 30 April 2024.

   We have added certificate GBHC585 API: Apiculture by products and updated the version history

4. 5 May 2023

   We have added certificate GBHC582 PIP: Processed insect protein and updated the version history.

5. 28 April 2023

   We have removed all EU certificates ending in E for other animal by-product certificates. We are currently in the process of replacing these with new certificates that can be used by all countries.  EU countries must use the new certificates from 31 October 2023. Non-EU countries can continue using certificates ending in X or start using the new certificates. We will communicate the deadline for non-EU countries switching to the new certificates in due course.

6. 28 November 2022

   Updated certificates GBHC107X and GBHC107E. The previous version of each certificate is accepted until 9 July 2023.

7. 31 October 2022

   The previous version of certificates GBHC078X, GBHC078E, GBHC090X, GBHC090E, GBHC091X, GBHC091E, GBHC098X, GBHC098E, GBHC102X, GBHC102E, GBHC129X and GBHC129E can be accepted until 1 June 2023.

8. 28 October 2022

   Updated certificates GBHC078X, GBHC078E, GBHC090X, GBHC090E, GBHC091X, GBHC091E, GBHC098X, GBHC098E, GBHC102X, GBHC102E, GBHC129X and GBHC129E. See version history for full details of the changes.

9. 30 June 2022

   Certificates GBHC078E, GBHC090E, GBHC091E, GBHC098E, GBHC102E, GBHC103E, GBHC107E, GBHC129E, GBHC140E and GBHC144E should now be used from 31 December 2023. They were previously due to come into effect on 1 July 2022.

10. 1 May 2022

    We've updated certificates GBHC078X, GBHC090X, GBHC091X, GBHC098X, GBHC102X, GBHC103X, GBHC107X, GBHC129X, GBHC140X and GBHC144X.
