Details

You must report to the pollution inventory if you:

  • operate under a part A(1) environmental permit and have received a notice under Regulation 61(1) of the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) 2016 or Regulation 60 of the EPR 2010
  • operate a sewage treatment works with a capacity at, or over, 100,000 population equivalents
  • run an opencast mine or quarry with a surface area over 25 hectares, or an underground mine and related operation (no capacity threshold)
  • dispose of radioactive waste to air, water or sewers covered by a permit issued under EPR 2016 or EPR 2010

  1. Updated the 'Intensive farming: pollution inventory reporting' page to link to new guidance on 'Ammonia emission factors for pig and poultry screening, modelling and reporting' and to update the calculations used in the examples in the 'Ammonia' section.

Part 6 has also been updated, the ammonia emission factor from poultry housing has been updated for cage with deep pit manure storage beneath from 0.29 to 0.21, and for perchery with deep litter from 0.29 to 0.21.

  6. We updated the guidance notes for 'Pollution inventory reporting - incineration activities'. Table 1 has been updated for Total Particulate Matter (TPM) to provide further guidance on how plants using their TPM continuous emissions monitors as indicative monitors can calculate their mass emissions.

  7. We updated the guidance notes for 'Pollution inventory reporting - incineration activities'. The method of estimating emissions of PM10 and PM2.5 has been updated. Advice has been added on how to calculate total particulate matter (TPM) mass emissions at plants who are using their continuous TPM emissions monitors as indicative monitors.

  8. Update to pollution inventory guidance reporting codes to include the addition of 3 new EWC waste codes.
