Details
This report from the Commissioner for Children’s Services in West Sussex sets out the progress made on service improvement. It recommends:
- that conditions at the council have improved and are now conducive to supporting the continued improvement of children’s services
- the pause for a period of 12 months’ work to set up a company to provide children’s social care services, subject to improvement being maintained
This report is the second by the current commissioner. The previous report was issued in December 2019, following a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of the council’s children’s social care services to be inadequate.
The Department for Education issued a revised statutory direction to West Sussex County Council on 10 December 2020.
