Closure of the Open Market Review request for information - first release of phase 2
The Open Market Review (OMR) process for the Project Gigabit in the first release of Phase 2 concluded on 13th September 2021 at 5pm. Building Digital UK requested that network providers submit broadband infrastructure coverage, and the deadline for doing so has now passed.
The OMR covered the following geographical areas and began on the 12th August 2021:
- Oxfordshire and West Berkshire (Lot 13)
- Kent (Lot 29)
- Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and East of Berkshire (Lot 26)
- Staffordshire (Lot 19)
- West Sussex (Lot 1)
This Open Market Review was run to establish coverage for gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure across the above geographic areas. This included establishing both commercial coverage by existing broadband network providers and future planned deployment.
BDUK contacted all known broadband network providers within the area and other providers known to have, or potentially planning to deploy, new networks across the region with a formal request for information.
The Open Market Review was publicised through a notification on the DCMS government portal on 12 August 2021.
We are currently evaluating all responses received. Formal responses will be sent to all network providers who submitted information in due course.
Our intention is to commence the formal Public Review exercise next. Information on the Public Review exercise will be made available for suppliers and members of the public to take part in the process. Once live, the public reviews will be published on our gov.uk. See GOV.UK public reviews page.
