Details

This prison service instruction (PSI) explains the role of prisons in supporting the repatriation and removal of foreign national offenders and immigration detainees from the UK.

It covers:

  • identifying foreign national offenders and referring them to Home Office Immigration Enforcement to be considered for removal
  • release, discharge and transfer procedures for foreign national offenders
  • the rights of foreign national offenders to clear and independent advice and access to consular representatives

This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 18 November 2011.
