This report assesses the overall impact of public research and development (R&D) support on levels of private R&D funding across the economy, both for the United Kingdom and for other countries.

It estimates both a short-term leverage rate and a long-term leverage rate using dynamic panel data within the Generalised Method of Moments, based on historic OECD data .

The report was commissioned by BEIS and carried out by Oxford Economics Ltd.

STATA code and data

We have also published the STATA code and data to enable researchers to reproduce the econometric results using the STATA data programming language.
