Details

This cross-government review considered how to accelerate the development and use of new data-driven technologies and services to improve the consumer experience in regulated markets.

We consulted with stakeholders including developers, intermediaries, regulated companies, consumer organisations and charities throughout the review. We also invited responses from providers of innovative data-driven consumer services, or those who were considering developing such a service.

The review has concluded that there is considerable potential for Smart Data to support better consumer outcomes across consumer markets.

Next steps

We are now consulting on proposals to:

  • enable data driven innovation in consumer markets
  • use data and technology to help vulnerable consumers
  • ensure consumers and their data are protected
