Following the government’s £80 million plan to introduce smart ticketing for rail travel, Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris MP has written to rail companies encouraging them to:

  • adopt smart tickets by default by January 2020
  • asking for a summary of their plans to move to smart tickets
