This report details the findings generated by a small-scale piece of qualitative research undertaken by the Customer Insight team to gain an understanding of the motivations and experience of customers applying for a Social Fund Community Care Grant.

The Department for Work and Pensions no longer provides Community Care Grants. If you need help with emergency household costs:

  • you may be able to get a Budgeting Advance if you’re getting Universal Credit

  • you may be able to get a Budgeting Loan if you’re getting other benefits
