State Aid consultation: Market Test Pilot Intervention Areas
State Aid consultation on superfast broadband Market Test Pilots as part of Broadband Delivery UK programme.
Documents
Details
BDUK is proposing to subsidise a number of pilot activities to explore the options for delivery of broadband services in extremely challenging locations. The subsidy provided by BDUK is classed as State aid and this document meets the specific requirement of the National Broadband Scheme to consult on the proposal to provide subsidy (State aid) to promote the deployment of broadband infrastructure and coverage to the relevant areas.
The consultation provides background information on the nature of the proposed projects including their intended location (postcode) and mapping information to enable all stakeholders (including broadband Infrastructure providers, ISP’s, businesses and residents) to identify whether the proposed pilot activity is at risk of over-building areas where there is current availability of comparable services or where there are firm plans, within the next three years, to offer such services.
Following closure of the first and second wave consultations on 4 December 2014, an additional third wave consultation is being undertaken to cover an area in Northumberland being covered by one of the Market Test Pilots. This consultation will close on 23 February 2015.
A fourth wave of consultations is being undertaken to cover an area in North Lincolnshire being covered by one of the Market Test Pilots. This consultation will close on 6 March 2015.
